Welcome to our new website. It has been a long time in development, but I am happy to say that we now have a new website with an improved and modern look. There have been a few technical challenges with the 'old' website which is why it has taken longer than I had hoped. Also, as the association is run entirely by volunteers it has taken a while to fit this in around the usual life schedules.
As a relative new comer to the Heron myself (I purchased 10089 in 2014) I really want to make sure that we keep the interest in the Heron Dinghy alive. It is a classic little boat which families, racers and cruisers have enjoyed for decades. For many, this is a sentimental attachment with one person I met at the Dinghy show welling up as soon as she saw the Heron Logo and the Butler Boats Heron on the stand. It took her back to when her father made one in the garage and they enjoyed many holidays bobbing about in it. Yes, there are many newer, racier looking boats out there, which speed through the water, have an Olympic class or look 'flashy', but will these boats be around in 60 years time? I don't know, but what I do want is for people to still enjoy the Heron and to promote its future.
I think the new website is a good way to start.
Moreover, as an association, we are always looking to increase our membership. It is exceptional value for money and with a stand at the Dinghy show a published Year book (which is back) now is the time to join. We are still playing around with the membership module on the website, so if you have any problems for the moment you can email me at email@example.com
